From: Cape Town / Western Cape
My fitness journey started at the age of six, jumping around at the back of a church hall to Jane Fonda style aerobics, while my mom and the rest of the Grahamstown ladies ‘grapevined’ their way through the class.
I was a bit heavier than the rest of my friends as a pre-teen and teen, but, at the age of 16, I made a conscious decision to change my life. Within that year, I trained, played sport at school; – this is where my love for running began and started eating healthily and within moderation.
Twenty-five kilograms later, I was head-over-heels in-love with exercise! My confidence was up and I wasn’t a shy and scared little girl anymore. I knew what the transformation had done for my life and what it could also do for others. I knew that this was what I wanted to pursue after school. It was what made me happy, it was why I was put on this earth.
When I went to University, I pretty much lived in the Rhodes University Gym, creating and running the most intense step, taebo and ab classes. I also did personal training in my free time, while completing my Honours Degree in Sports Science and Ergonomics.
Moving to Cape Town gave me the opportunity to make my dream a reality; I always wanted to live here from the age of 13 and, now, it finally happened.
When I got to Cape Town, I started working at a fantastic training facility and, in the four years I was there, I grew and learned more about myself, than I ever thought possible. I also learned what it takes to be the best trainer, group fitness instructor (more HIIT training compared to step or taebo), sports scientist/rehab specialist, life coach and life transformation coach.
Today, two years after leaving that facility, I own Stature, a personal and group training facility in the heart of the Cape Town CBD. I also started a blog and programme called Wedding Shredding eighteen months ago, which specialises in ‘shredding before the wedding’ and beyond, helping people (both male and female) attain, and then maintain tight and toned bodies.
Why do I do this? Why is this my ‘why’?
I have an immense passion for helping people, and a undeniable love for running, fitness and sport. Whenever I walk into the gym, onto a field or start a run or hike I can’t help but smile. Simply put, fitness ignites this unquestionable excitement and happiness within me.
What makes me different?
I’m a holistic personal trainer. My clients refer to me as a “life transformation coach”. While the focus may be on your body (because, after all, an incredible looking and healthy body is a must for most of us), I’m always there to lend an ear, instill self-belief and assist in any way I can for you to become the confident wonder woman you were destined to be.
I’m excited at the prospect of becoming South Africa’s 2019 Women’s Health Next Fitness Star and working along-side all the incredible partners. The more women that we, as a brand, are able to support, help, motivate and encourage to be fit, healthy, confident and strong capable women, the better!
Yours in health fitness and love,
